Baker Institute Holds An Open House

Every fall, the Baker Institute holds an open house to allow members of the Roundtable, the institute’s premier membership support group, to meet with the scholars and discuss upcoming projects and research. The open house provides a chance to interact one-on-one and get updates on the direction of our academic programs in the coming year. It’s also an opportunity to discuss key policy issues with experts.

This year’s event was no exception. More than 90 people attended the invitation-only reception to meet with institute fellows and enjoy hors d’oeuvres. Ambassador Edward P. Djerejian, founding director of the institute, also spoke to the audience about the institute’s plans for 2009 and 2010, including efforts to use the Internet to better communicate with the public about the institute’s research.

“The Roundtable provided a great opportunity for members to learn more about the fellows and their projects. We had a great turnout for the event and will continue to see tremendous support as the lineup of fall programs continue,” said Cody Sutton, who co-chairs the institute’s Associate Roundtable, which focuses on institute members age 40 and under.

If you are interested in joining the Roundtable or participating in a policy-specific focus group, please call 713-348-2136 or visit the Baker Institute’s membership page to find out more. Special membership rates are available for policy- and leadership-minded Houstonians ages 20 to 40.
