Baker Institute Energy Forum
director Amy Myers Jaffe recently sat down with the BBC program Newshour to participate in a live radio panel discussion on America’s push for energy independence.

The conversation, which took place at the Port of Houston, came a day after the annual Offshore Technology Conference. The panel also included former Shell CEO John Hofmeister and KUHF reporter Dave Fehling.

“Our prediction at the Baker Institute is that shale will represent 50 percent of U.S.  natural gas production moving forward,” Jaffe said. “We are very optimistic about how much oil, crude oil and oil and  natural gas liquids can also be produced from the shales just in the U.S. alone. We’re talking about millions of barrels a day.”
