For the 12 Baker Institute interns participating in the Jesse Jones Leadership Center Summer in D.C. Policy Research Internship Program this year, memories of the nation’s capital will last long after the summer ends: standing five feet from the Oval Office before meeting Rice alum Ben Rhodes ’00, deputy national security adviser for President Obama; discussing policy with former treasury secretaries Robert Rubin and Larry Summers; and interning at organizations such as NASA and the American Civil Liberties Union — and at the end of the day, feeling better equipped to effect change in an increasingly complex world. Rice junior Rahul Rekhi describes his summer as a Baker Institute D.C. intern in the Rice News.
