Baker Institute founding director Edward P. Djerejian was interviewed on NPR’s “Morning Edition” today about the increasingly violent crisis in Syria.
Djerejian, who previously was U.S. ambassador to Syria, said that the U.S. has limited options in terms of its response to Syria’s crackdown on protestors calling for reform.
“The bully pulpit of the White House can be effective but I think in terms of Syria we would be more effective if we were able to get key allies to join in a coordinated response to the regime’s use of force to confront the popular protests and uprisings in Syria,” he said.
Those allies, he said, include Turkey and France.
