Joan Neuhaus Schaan, Baker Institute fellow in Homeland Security and Terrorism, was interviewed this week on Channel 11-KHOU discussing the possibility of a wanted terrorist coming across the U.S.-Mexico border to Texas.
Schaan was asked about a Department of Homeland Security alert on a suspected member of the terrorist group Al Shabaab, a terrorist group based in Somalia. The alert indicates a group member may be traveling to the U.S. through Mexico.
“(Al Shabaab) are certainly a real threat to U.S. security and an increasing threat to U.S. security,” Schaan told KHOU.
